Translation for us not German speaking fellows "I don't speak German"
I'm out here in the mother land for work for a few weeks and I'm wondering if any of you crazies are close to where I am. I'm staying about 30 minutes south of Stuttgart.
I've seen 1 subaru legacy since I've been here and it was being towed lol.
Tschüss!

Thats a good one! I failed two semesters of Spanish. then spent a year in a call center next to the Spanish call line chaps who where kind enough to teach me to speak Spanish wrong.
No se' donde esta' va casa de Pepe'
"I dont know where the house of Pepe' is going"
Instead of "Where is the house of Pepe"
Me Chevrolet Nova (no va)
"My Chevrolet dosnt move"
instead of "Me Chevrolet is a Nova" (Witch, actually, would traslate much the same. Go Chevy!
Marhta lleva un hombre negro grande para los zapatos
"Martha is wearing a large black man for shoes"
instead of "Martha is wearing large black shoes" (She was wearing thigh high Platforms)
In closing Id like to say I have no plans of ever going to a Spanish speaking nation as im sure id end up getting myself stabbed.

Check out the Porsche museum & factory!
You shouldn't need much Deutsch, really, most Germans pride themelves on having passable English, but just in case;
Phrasebook:
-Ein Bier, bitte. (One beer, please)
-Wo ist die Toilette (Where's the pisser)
-Ich bin ein Rennfahrer für Porsche (I'm a racecar driver for Porsche)
That should get you through a night of partying.
Google has added computer-voiced translation to their language tools page... pretty cool, it speaks the translation of what you type in. Keep it simple though, long sentences tend to get badly garbled due to verb placement differences (English: I have driven my car... German: {literal} I have my car driven)

All the Germans I've worked with or met in my travels have been incredibly friendly and speak better English and with a greater vocabulary than most Americans. And, like everyone, I'm sure there are plenty of them without a sense of humor, but the claim that Germans are particularly lacking is BS—they just tend to be dry and deliver it that way. Maybe just idiots who can't get past fart jokes that think that, I don't know, but they have a reputation for some reason. I may not like their cars, but they're definitely some of my favorite people.

Yes yes, the Germans are good peeps.
Porsche museum...check!, Mercedes museum...check! I went with two Indian colleagues that are also here for some training. The Porsche museum was really cool. They had all the cars out and you could walk around all these cars and poke your head under them etc. you couldn't sit in them of course but thats normal.
The Mercedes museum was the pinnacle of the German stereotype of being in total control at all times. It was the history of the automobile told from Mercedes perspective. They subtly imply that history was written with the help of Mercedes. I don't know how to explain it. It was a little weird and you move along like cattle from area to area. Also, 75% of the cars were raised up and behind a barrier so you could not walk around them. All the race cars were away from the people.
At any rate, I need to upload my pictures to Photobucket and get the link on here for you guys.

A bit too far for me I'm afraid otherwise I would have swung by. I'm 700 miles north if you are bored a day or two
Hey, you are not that far away from the Nürburgring. Quick, rent a fast car and off you go!
