Bleeding HLA's?

Hey guys, want to make sure I got this right. The HLA's should be hard and not move? I have 2 hla's and when I squeeze it its squishy, but the rest of the ones I pulled out of my ej22t are hard and I can not pump them. How are they suppost to be?

Right now I have all the solid ones soaking in oil and I am going to pull the ones from my cars ej22t and see how those are as I hear random ticking when idling and it's very annoying also wondering how the hla's being soft affect the engines performance? Thanks!

not supposed to move unless you press the little check ball.

once you bleed the HLA's from air they should be firm and hard, not squishy or flat. If bleeding doesnt correct the problem, you should replace it.

Ok, replaced one on the passenger side head. Now i need to do the driver side head tomorrow. It is quieter still when I rev it I hear a clicking doesn't sound extremely smooth. At idle no ticking though. Last time I heard the HLA's I am pretty sure it was the ones on the driver side head.

I guess the taping is heard by the knock sensor?
