Torquing the crank pulley bolt

Dumb question but i just did my timing belt/water pump. How can i keep the motor from turning when Im trying to torque the pully down? 2.2 Ej22. Motor is still in the car.

What did you do? Just wrap that around the big crank pulley ??

i usually just put it in gear w/ e-brake engaged

There should be a small hole in the back side of the bell housing on the engine side. take the starter off and you should be able to find it, its half way down the back side of the motor, 1/4 of an inch big Take a punch and put it in there it'll lock the flywheel in place so you can safely torque the crank bolt.

yes. either hold it yourself to keep the crankshaft pulley in place or get a buddy to hold it while you torque the bolt to spec. I had no problems and it worked well.
