Want to pickup a 94 2.2t sedan with a bad autp tranny. Looking for a 5 speed tranny from a 2 generation legacy or a Impreza before 2000 with a hydralic slave cyclinder. Anyone have specific year recommendations.
guess 4.10 final ratio would be better?
Want to do a sti drive train swap eventually when my bank account can handle it.

From your requirements, you're looking for a
97-99 Outback, 97-99 GT, 98-99 Impreza RS, 98-99 Forester.
These all have 4.11 final drive, so make sure to grab their rear differential.
These should all be about the same strengthwise, however I noticed (having owned both a 98 Outback and 98 Forester) that 5th gear on the Forester is nicer for highway cruising than my Outback. (98-99 Forester have the same gears as 98-99 Impreza RS). For example, my forester: 3k RPM is 73mph while 3k RPM on the Outback is 61MPH.

Was the forester a five speed? If i can find a 04-05 XT 5speed tranny with a 4:44 final I would be happy as a clam.
I just read a 06 - 07 Spec B GT 6 spd manual had a 3:45 final wow..
and yes my 00' GT BH which had a 4:10 final (same as older leggies 95-99 i think) was quick and fun.. I know it has a 4:10 final because I had to go to the junkyard after 5th gear blew on the NY State Thruway around exit 21.
maybe santa will leave a dogbox under the tree for me.

Regarding the 3.545 diff ratio. That is just the diff ratio. The final drive ratio is 3.90. There is a 1:1.1 gear reduction in the transmission.
