Dual Range 5 Speed in a BC Legacy?

I am in the process of acquiring a 1992 Loyale Wagon, 4WD Dual Range 5 Speed for $400, I believe it is the MPFI model. I was going to buy it, fix it up and use it as my winter beater/spare car because my 1994 Legacy is FWD and I am looking for another Subie project and I think the old L series are just beautiful, boxy is sexy. I was wondering if anybody had tried putting the Dual Range 4WD transmission into a Legacy. If so, that must be a killer car. I understand it would be a lot of work but I was just wondering if this had been done in the past. I will be posting this on NASIOC too to see if I can get any feedback.

Maybe try getting it cryo treated first. Don't know how much extra life it would give, but it won't hurt.

I probably won't end up doing it, but I was just thinking about it and thought, hey that might be a good idea. If I do end up getting the Loyale, I will probably just fix it up and keep everything the way it is. Whip it around in the snow or go offroading or whatever I'm feeling up to. Can't go wrong with a $400 subie.
