So my girlfriend was driving home from work today in the 92 as and she heard a clicking sound in the dash like the headlight relay or the washer relay sound. While it was making this sound a box around the "p" indicator was flickering. The prnd. Indicators. Have never worked in the car. What controls them in the dash? The transmissions was changed before I bought it to one from a 91 NA...so I suspect a wrong or unplugged sensor. Any idea what the clicking may be? She also doesn't think the dash lights are working but it was too btright out to tell. The head and parking lights do though. I wont be able to drive the car till late tonight, just wanted to see if there are any well known issues that this may be.

The trans may be a little different, but it shouldn't be a huge issue to cause what you're talking about. Sounds like a short or some other wiring issue possibly.

The backup lights dont work either. Cant remember if they did when I bought the car. From the wiring diagrams I have it looks like those run through the inhibitor switch on the side of the trans...Ill have to check the wiring and stuff for that.

Yeah I'd look for any wiring looms that may be torn or melted.
