coolant temperature sensor

I didn't know which forum to post this so it's here in Miscellaneous. I tried searches but couldn't find what I was looking for. And this is what I'm looking for...

Would someone post a pic or two of where the coolant temperature sensor is located on an ej22t? The water temperature gauge in my '98 wagon is not working properly and on-line cross-references show that the ej22t's sensor is the same as the ej22's (NA). I found pics posted by Vikash (vrg3) but apparently that's on a NA engine and it's not located there on the turbo engine. I want to swap the sensors to see if the gauge starts working properly on the '98 again.

If someone can post pics that would be a great help. Thanks!

the coolant temp sensor has 1 wire on it and it's located on the coolant crossover pipe that is bolted on top of your block.

its the sensor on the left and it'll be located near your knock sensor

dont mind the location of this one tho, this is a 20H coolant crossover pipe, which is different than turbo legacy

Thanks so much for posting the pic and explanation! Once I read "located near your knock sensor" I found it immediately. I've been looking on the passenger side of the throttle body -- no wonder I couldn't find it.

And, yes, you're correct that on the turbo 22t engines, the placement of both those sensors are different than that on the 20h crossover pipe. On the 22t crossover pipe, the coolant temperature sensor (single wire for the temperature gauge in the dash) is on the right of the engine coolant temperature sensor (two wires with brown connector for the ecu).
