TD04 on Legacy 1995

Hi ! I'm new to the forum and I don't know much about turbos or even heavy tuning, but I was planning putting a turbo on my 1995 legacy sedan. My friend who owned a 2003 WRX impreza is selling his TD04 turbo and I was wondering if this turbo can be installed on my car, and how. He would give me the turbo, intercooler, the piping connected to the manifold and some other tubes. What do I need more ?

Welcome to the BBS.
You will need substantially more than what he can provide you to get the turbo to work on your car. Just on the hardware side you would need the exhaust manifold, front crossmember, all the turbo exhaust piping, you would need to plumb up oil & coolant to the turbo as well as an oil & coolant return line, all the associated piping, sensors, and you would need some form of engine management.
I'm not saying it can't be done, but to just "add" a turbo to a non-turbo engine requires a bit more components to get it to work.

And the reliability of a boosted n/a motor is less than one designed for that. If you can afford to have weeks to months of downtime for that car, plus a couple grand to do it right, then why not. Plus, are you in a strict state for emissions?
