Can I safely run a frankenmotor on my stock transmission with 253,000+ miles on it or is something going to give out? Would a lower mileage one be worth it to swap in, or should I try to find a turbo one?

What sort of condition is your current 4EAT in? Does it slip at all, lag between shifts, had routine trans fluid changes?
If it's in decent shape, I'd leave it. However with that kind of mileage, things are probaly worn a little. You'd likely get better performance from one that is newer....

Sometimes the first to second shift is hard( power mode mod), I don't know when the fluid was changed, the only slow shift is going from D to 3 uphill it just takes a few seconds longer then just manually putting it in 3, there is no slipping to the best of my knoweledge but reverse recently started growling for the first ten seconds or so when first put in.

It's going to be a judgement call then. Do you want to spend money you may not have to? If not, and you can tolerate rebuilding/replacing it later, just let it ride.
