Saw it on Wiki, not that I believe Wiki, but I really don't like the new concept because doesn't look anything like a legacy, let alone a subaru. I see nissan more than subaru...
Feel free to share your opinions too.

That car was the concept for the 2010 Legacy.

All the sheet metal is production. The grill, bumpers and mirrors are about the only thing different.

Yes, Subarus are looking more mainstream--which I don't really care for. But sales numbers prove I am in the minority.

Gross. What's with the mirrors?

Lately I've begun to feel as though I'm turning into one of those old school muscle car guys. I'm not into muscle cars but I mean the way that they won't touch anything after like 1970 and constantly bash on how the newer cars (80's and 90's) are too computerized and too complicated to work on. I really don't think I'll ever like newer cars anymore. I love 90's Japanese cars. I'm starting to really like even older Japanese cars thanks to speedhunters.com which I visit twice daily now. Really want an old nissan or toyota lately. Something that's more function than form.

The mirrors are cameras. Aerodynamics of mirrors, looks, and frequent damage make them suck. For years, automakers have been showing concepts with various camera setups in place of the sideview mirrors, but the government has yet to allow the replacement. Word is Porsche will be using cameras in Europe. Hope their lobby helps sway. The funny part, in a disgusting way, is that I was just reading about how The Man is looking into mandating rearview cameras for the center mirror (a mirror not even required by law!) because carmakers don't build cars with useable windows anymore and parents don't train or leash their kids properly. The problem won't be solved, however, since nobody looks where they're going anyway. Unless they made the rearview image show up on their smartphone, they'd never notice. That's probably how carmakers have gotten away with putting everybody into cars with all the greenhouse space of the Maginot Line.

The thing about old cars is that even the shitty ones are often more fun than new cars. There's a tactility, a bond with machine, maybe a little more danger, that makes for a sense of adventure and excitement and is lost in the weight and gadgetry of modern junk. I'd pay more for a rereleased 1990 wagon with better headlights than I would for a brand new one.
