So I bought my 91 legacy awd wagon not to long ago and have done a lot of research sense but I am stumped now

I began getting torque bind and the flashing 16 times so I found out what it was and how to read TCU codes it was duty C and vss so I replaced the duty C just in time for the snow and everything worked great all the snow went away and now its doing it again with a brand new solenoid all new fluids even with the fwd fuse in…… hmmm
Same codes are now reading, I went to pull the vss from my friends swap car and it seems it cannot be unplugged????
It ran to the side of the tranny then up into the engine bay to the main tranny harness??

Please help this is my daily driver I work an hour from home, I don't won't more stuff to go out due to me needing to drive so much

Thanks, eric

Hi Eric,

Do you get the same codes when performing both test procedures to pull codes from the TCU? If so, I'd suggest resetting the TCU. That can be done by pulling fuse 14 (EGI/TCU) for about an hour. Then drive the car and see if the codes come back.

The VSS 2 is in the gauge cluster on these cars. If your speedo works, then the VSS2 should be fine.

i noticed the flashing and ive done the test from surrealmirage,

after changing the duty c solenoid and all fluids it was good then like a couple weeks late it started doing it again
..so i pullled the codes after seeing the 16 flashes and got duty c ans ssv2, today at my lunch break i pulled my tcu and opened it everything looked ok, and i started cleaning all my grounds got my battery disconnected to reset everything.... we are going to try one of my buddies extra speedos just for shits and ima going to jack my car up and switch the wheels around blahhhh

trying to do what i can before pulling it back apart

anyone know where to find clutch packs? i cannot find them online, mine looked find but who knows now

on the bright side my wifes due date for our second son is sunday =]

thanks, Eric

So cleaned all the ground, disconnected the battery for a couple hours then pulled that fuse for a couple hours, and now the fwd fuse is working!! Ima pull that fuse in the morning I guess to see if it stays working blah I don't want it to mess up again, I think my clutch packs might be doodo even though they seemed to look good

well after all that i finally installed a new/used vss into my cluster, one that had no codes on the car it came from... everything seemed fine lastnight and on the way to work *hour drive* the i went to mcdonalds on break and the split engaged then never disengaged...... blahhh all new fluids' new solenoid all grounds cleaned i opened tcu looked find

but ima try a junk yard tcu to see if that fixes it

if not i gotta open it back up andcheck things out again =[
