Front axle question.

Would it be better to use fwd axles over awd axles with an auto? Sorry if it seems noobish but my left front is starting to click and I would like to have the axle before the left front breaks, had my right front break at the outer joint while I was running 40 mph... not fun to limp it home with a broken axle.

FWD axles are beefier, and have been in my awd legacy for the last 30ish thousand miles.
I drove with clicking axles for an extended period of time, and other than the grease getting everywhere it didn't do any damage, although if one really broke I suppose 3wd isn't so good for the drivetrain, lol.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter whether you use AWD or FWD front axles.
