Sorry guys if i'm such a noobie, but i have a 1994 legacy wagon (turbo awd).
I have disc brakes all the way around. I'm trying to buy some hawk pads, but theres so many different sub models and i'm not sure which one i have. The car is automatic if that matters.

I'm on the website "discountbrakes.com" and under the submodels for my year and car there is a 4x4, alpine sport, gt, l, ls, lsi, outdoor, sport, sun sport, and touring.
I have no clue how to differentiate between them. None of the models say turbo awd... so i'm pretty confused.. any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

I believe you would want to order a set for the touring sub model.

I looked for some hawk pads for my 91 ss through a local shop and he told me that Hawk had no application for my car. He runs a pretty well respected race shop and has for many years so I trust him on what he was able to find out. Our cars should have the same pads front and rear. I did find some Ferodo that I am thinking about.

The sport model is the sedan and the touring is the wagon. They "should" be the same pad.

I emailed Hawk today and this is the email that they sent me:

Subject: Hawk Performance Comments: HPS fitment questions

Hello I am interested in purchasing the "street" pad for my car. Both front pads and rear pads. I am not sure which part number I need to order. I have a 1994 Subaru Legacy Wagon. It is the Turbo charged AWD model. It has a 2 piston caliper up front which differs from the N/A legacy wagons. I am not sure if the size of the caliper matters when it comes to the bracket that the pads sit in. If possible please let me know if the Hawk Street Pads would fit my wagon. Also let me know which part numbers they are for both front and rear. Thanks for any information you can give me.

Answer:

The part numbers you need are HB408F.665 for the front and HB367F.585 for the rear.

Please let me know if you need a referral as to where to order the pads.

Thank you for choosing Hawk Performance!

So i guess they do make pads for legacy turbo wagons.

So today i found out that the guys at Hawk Pads do not know what they are talking about. It shows that the HB408F.665 "front pads" also are used with the n/a legacys... so... until i actually buy a set of front pads to test fit it, i would be cautious with buying these hawk pads.

ok sorry to ask this but i'm not sure if this was covered elsewhere, but i read the compiled brake post and i'm wondering if anyone has tried to swap the 2.5RS calipers and brackets onto a legacy.

276x24mm
This uses a two piston sliding front caliper and there are three caliper/bracket designs. One for the 91-94 Legacy SS/TW, an early Legacy 2.5GT/Impreza RS bracket (~96-99), and a Later RS/GT bracket (03+). It's possible to exchange some of these calipers onto taller WRX brackets as long as the pad shapes match.
Applications:
91-94 Legacy turbo
96-01 Legacy GT
96-01 Outback
00-04 Legacy non-GT
98+ Impreza RS/TS/2.5i
98+ Forester

If i swap over 2.5rs calipers and brackets, i found hawk pads that will fit that caliper/bracket... supposedly (since Hawk is misleading sometimes). If this won't effect/hurt my braking capabilities by switching to the 2.5rs calipers, the last question i have is will it fit under my 15 inch wheels. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I swapped RS brakes on my legacy (I originally had the smaller 1-pot brakes), everything went fine. They do fit under 15" oem wheels, as they are the same size calipers as the Turbo brakes.

To the OP, check this thread: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=46545

Don't buy front brake parts for a "Touring" model off of websites unless you can verify that they are turbo-specific. Many (most?) of these sites were incorrect when I was shopping for new rotors/pads.

for future reference for others, when I was searching for them for my 91 SS I had no luck from several dealers and hawk themselves.
