had a mystery coolant leak that i was sure, it was one the 2 head gaskets. bit the bullet started this project got the first head off (right side) and one the head bolts is rusty. I know its time for an overhaul but, no money.
oh yea the gasket looked OK i guess more concerned with the cause to the rust head bold.
please help

thanks,
jeff

I have come to the conclusion that the head is cracked( i hope and not the block), I am installing heads that i have had laying around in my garage waiting to be worked on.
Is there any difference in the valve components or cam?
off a 92 legacy L
going on 93 legacy Ls
from the looks there the same but then again i am not measuring anything.
Thanks
Jeff

Welcome to the BBS Jeff.
No there are no differences that I am aware of between the 92 & 93 non-turbo Legacy.

thank you
I have the right idea to switch both heads so the wear on the valve train is equal on both sides
right?

I'm not sure how big a difference that would make, but as long as the heads you're swapping on are in good shape, I'd probably put them on as a set.

decided against the overhaul for now,
but got it all back together and running but,
nasty nasty clicking coming from one of the valve trains, will this go away?
and a very very rough idle try'ed the started fluid trick with no result
I did reuse the intake mani gaskets which i am replacing
no CE light either
any suggestions?

Did you bleed the air from the hydraulic lash adjusters before reinstalling the head? Take off the valve cover and have a look for loose parts.

You replaced heads without torque specs and you're worried about the rocker asy.?
