Hey everyone, just wanted to find out if an aftermarket shift knob exists for my 4EAT '91 Leggy wagon. I plan on re-doing my ENTIRE interior when warm weather returns, and think that something other than this big, ugly hunk of plastic would be better replaced as well.

Manual shift knobs are aplenty, autos I've only seen them on 2nd gen legacys. There's a possibility they'll interchange - wanna let us know

I found a manual/ auto knob at a yard sale once, so far I've had to basicly gut the inside to fit over the shifter and I'll need to drill two holes in the sides for the stock screws to hold it. I can take some picutures of it if you would like.

Anything you find is probably going to be custom. You can reroute/reposition the manual button either on the new shift knob or a separate button.

You could probably modify an XT one to work, adding another switch for the manual button. I'd put it on the left side near the top like a second weapons switch (the shift lock being the first).

Progress is looking good so far, Danny-G! Is there a secret to removing the stock shifter though? When I first got the car, I gave it a thorough cleaning and I remember not being able to remove it to take the surround off.

I cut the wires that go to the manual button and put a switch in so I could change knobs out in the future, other than the wires needing to be cut theres only the two screws holding it on.

Yeah those damn wires for the manual switch are really the only snag in removing it.

Saw this at the local O'Reillys today. Its not that bad looking but, personally, I would do something about the chrome. It is for an auto though.

I like that shifter, although I do agree with you on the chrome. If it could be disassembled enough to allow it, that knob and trim-ring would have a date with the local vinyl shop (flat-black? carbon-fiber? a body-color match?)

The black part is imitation carbon fiber, the only reason it doesn't show is I used my phone to take the picture.

Massive thread revival, but its a good reason. I found a site that sells the chrome and "carbon fiber" knob I posted a picture of. Heres the link,

And, I got that free knob installed.
