Is there a way to swap it to obd1 and make it work?
I'm going to find out!

I've got all the sensors changed. as well as the crank pulley.
Just looking for some obd1 era cams/gears so I can get the timing done
or ill try to find some na dohc cam gears to fit.
I only really need one for the cam sensor.
So does anyone know which will fit so i can keep the wrx cams?

also what intake mani will fit? so i dont have the iac in the throttle body
cause i dont have a way to swap that. i dont think. unless i unpin it and wire the obd1 plug into it.

i have 2 other motors to pull parts from.
i got an ej25d.
and an ej22e.

ive got an safc
afr
mbc
oil psi
oil temp
egt
knock light
walbro fp
and a strong will to see this work.



i refuse to go obd2 to make this motor work!

any issues you see me running into?

There is no OBD1 intake manifold that will fit the OBD2 WRX heads.

There is no OBD1 cam gears that will fit the OBD2 WRX cams.

The OBD2 WRX ecu is looking for a very different cam pulse pattern than the OBD1 cam gear can provide. And the OBD2 WRX cam gear cannot feed the OBD1 ECU properly.

If your not going to custom make cam gears and a throttlebody, then your choices are:

1) Build a OBD1 motor. Usually based on a JDM WRX EJ20G.
2) OBD2 motor and a standalone ECU.
3) Full OBD2 WRX swap.

Swap is for sale. Unless I get a turbo crossmember soon.
Then I'll keep it and put it in my 91 Legacy.
