So I am now ready to put the engine together but am waiting on my .25mm main bearings to arrive so i am just cleaning up random items. What color should I paint the valve covers? Green, Black, or make a green stripe down the middle?

Where did you find wrinkle red paint? I've been looking everywhere for it.

What about a diagonal slash of green over black. I'd say maybe so the lettering in green, but I think that might look terrible. Black lettering over green might not look too bad.

VHT makes wrinkle paint. I used their black and red.

So you guys are using spray in a can? Hmm havent tried it, think the previous owner did that with the stock rims in gold.. Was going to take the valve covers to the powdercoat guy.

I learned that Sparvar spray paint like these work well: In the Netherlands they call it wrinkle paint, makes for a nice professional structure on your paint surface as well.

and found this, don't know if it's the same.

Soak the hell out of the valve covers in degreaser for at least days as the aluminum absorbs the oil over its years of exposure and the paint will not stick even if it appears clean and you use acid etching paint. I know from experience.

Thanks, have bought several things of degreaser etc for them the insides of the valve covers and super clesn but the outsides have some sort of film/gross coating on them no matter how many times ive cleaned/soaked them.
