so few months back i calked the rails on the sun roof as many have done to stop the leaking but unfortunately it didnt last long i made sure and put sealant on the rail but the constant rain and retardedness of washington state won. started leaking again or the tubes clogged. what sealant did some of you guys use? anyone ever just order new weather stripping?

Did you clean and prep the surface well? If so, did you use a silicone based sealant? If not, what exactly did you use?
You may want to check the drain tubes.

i went as far as using sand paper so take all the old crap off. the stuff i used was silicone based and i used plenty of it. I think it was for showers and sinks or something like that. Drain tubes are next. stupid sunroof.

I found out that after time, the stuff shrinks a bit, and you may need to re-apply more. Mine was fixed this summer, and for four months, no leaks. Then suddenly, it started leaking again.

I think using something tar based in a tube that never dries would work. Why not just simply use a high temp silicone or rtv copper?

most silicone based sealants are mildly corrosive... I resealed mine using windshield caulking, and it hasn't leaked in over 5 years! I may never get it apart again, but...
BTW, the stuff for showers and sinks CAN melt back out if not cured prperly, or if it has constant contact with water....
