Nice car. And no you won't be fitting 17x9s on your car. 17x8s required fender rolling on my car. Stock size I think is 15x6.5.

We generally do not do HIDs on these cars. I don't think there's ever been a real kit. There's also not really any exhausts for these cars (seeing a pattern here?) so just get a WRX exhaust and modify the midpipe and possibly hangers to make it fit. Or get a 3" downpipe and a 3" muffler and go to your local exhaust shop and have them bend you a custom 3" exhaust. If you're getting lowering springs you should get struts too. I wouldn't put lowering springs on stock struts especially since they're old and tired struts. When lowering the car it's a good idea to get struts that are designed to operate in the range you are going to operate them in.

Welcome to the forum! You'll find people here are friendly and helpful and don't just spew out BS like NASIOC and shoot you down with negative comments for no apparent reason.

Welcome to the boards! Beautiful ride!

Im not the most knowledgable here but Ill answer what I can.

1) Im running 17x7s with no modification and the fit great. but thier a bit tight. for 17 x 9s your gonna AT LEAST have to roll the fender lip.

2) Alot of these are running around with springs from http://www.whiteline.com.au/ I, myself, am Runnign whiteline Groundcontrols with KYB AGX adjustable shocks. But the shocks are a littel anemic for the springs.

3) Not sure what you mean by general parts. Any Autoparts store will have most of what you need but the stealerships are starting to phase out the parts. Tons of Legacys in wrecking yards for body/electric/non-wearing parts.

4) Im clueless. I run EDM headlight pods with h-4 halogens.

5) Eh.. you can get good exhausts from dang near anybody so id suggest going with your prefered shop. you can also use Imprezza/WRX/STI exhausts. but you will have to have a small (about 6-9") custom extender pipe made (Legacys are slightly longer).

6) again out of my area of expertise.

Best of luck, and keep poking around. people here know.. pretty much everything there is to know.

Love them in black, at least when they still shine. Headlight options are EDM (best—non-yellowing and a better beam pattern) or custom units (best lighting, but a real PITA, and what I did using Hella 90mm. However, I have a pre-facelift car and the post facelift like you have seem like they'd be much easier to fit projectors into. The plastic is polycarbonate, so you can weld a clear lens in place of the flutes).

Oh my god!!!! So pretty!!! I wish my car looked this good... Atleast the color is the same. Personal opinion, black out the chrome. It changes the whole look of the car, along with doing something about the fender lights. Keep this one clean, I'll be watching how everything goes. Again, great car and I love seeing a clean black sedan, especially an ss.

Oh yeah I blacked out the chrome trim around the outside and it looks much better. Get yourself a roll of electrical tape and a utility knife and cover all the chrome. If you do a good job people don't even notice. It's hard to tell. Also removing the amber lenses in your tail lights is super easy and looks a lot better. There's a thread on probably both of these mods if you search. I know I made a thread on the tail lights and I at least covered the electrical tape mod in my build thread.

Plans are: Lower it, Some 16X8 or at least 17X8 Rota Grids or somthing, exhaust, Rally armour mudflaps, Hids, tint and get a front lip. then do somthing about the grill. other than that maybe a bigger turbo and manual swap if i keep it

thanks guys haha! its pretty mint, paint will need a polish after winter, also gonna be re-doing the water pump and timing belt soon as the water pump leaks when it's pretty cold outside. it was done 20000kms ago, but it's only been driving that much since 2004. so the seals is probably shot and old.

yah well can you guys post pics of the mods you mentioned. :|

I blacked out the chrome trim and fender lights with Dupli-Color Perfect Match paint, I found it in mica black at my local AutoZone, the chrome trim on the bumpers I just pulled it off. Heres how it looked after being painted for probably three months. Oh and this is how Forester five spoke alloys look on the legacy, they are 16x6.5 and I like how they look.

kimo- He's got a 92... no amber in the tails from the factory ;]

Black the chrome if you wish, but I always thought it looked era-appropriate. I like leaving factory stuff like the markers and the chrome... the old-school feel is part of what makes these cars special. But that's just me.

lol thanks I didn't think about that. I guess I just hate all things chrome. A lot. I like simple subtle details and clean cars.
