manual cable tranny swap questions

i decided that a five speed swap would be the coolest thing i could do to my turbo wagon at this point, but i have some questions before i get started
a buddy of mine had a 91 n/a 4.111 tranny with matching drive shaft and rear differential. being a proud wrx owner, he was stoked i went subie and gave me the the tranny, driveline, and diff for free!!
1.) i know its not a turbo hydro tranny, but is it worth using? i absolutely hate autos, just so..... not fun.
2.) with a nice clutch, flywheel, and shifter assembly will it feel decent and hold 200-250 whp?
3.) i researched a few manual swap threads, but none really talked about a cable tranny. wouldnt the cable tranny swap be easier? no master and slave cyl. or lines, just the clutch cable?
4.) besides the shotpeened gears, 3.90FD, and hydro clutch, are there differences i need to know about? is the shift linkage the same?
that pretty much covers it, i know its alot, but any input would be appreciated guys, thanks.
