Remote mount turbo on a 2.2 na, plausible?

So, how difficult would it be to mount a turbo to the end of either the stock or a borla exhaust manifold? I figure I could run the oil line to the turbo from one of those oil cooler adapters and the intake piping wouldn't be too difficult. It looks like there is plenty of empty space on the passenger side of the motor at the firewall, so it seems like the most difficult part of the install would be getting things to line up properly. If anyone has already done this could you direct me to a link or tell me how you did it? Also, im not looking for insane power, I just want to be able to pass people on the freeway in less than 30 seconds, lol. Probably only looking for like 4-6 psi.

deffinatly doable.

but research research research...... and then do it again... lol Im planning on turboing my ej22 and the more and more I search the eiser it is, relativly cheap to turbo also if your using stock wrx parts.

yeah, my little brother has a blown up eagle talon turbo that he is thinking of parting out, so i can get a turbo for free. I think its a garrett T25. Im just concerned about blowing up my DD. but im tired of not being able to pass granny on the back roads.

The main problem you're going to have is the oil return. The stock turbo uses gravity to allow the oil to drain. Not that you couldn't get something to work, but it's not a simple solution.

I've revised my original plan of just attaching the turbo to the end of the manifold. Due to the gravity nature of the oil return, I think I'm gonna fabricate an up pipe to the turbo, and a down pipe back to the rest of the exhaust. Probably won't be pretty, but should be functional.
My only other concern is where I'm gonna get the coolant line from.

Additionally, does anyone know what the base level psi is on a vf11? And how would I limit it to lets say 5 - 5.5 psi? I'm thinking that amount of boost would be sufficient to put a grin on my face and help me pass granny on the back roads.

So far I know I need:
Turbo
Small intercooler
Oil cooler w/ sandwich adapter
Headers, or modified stock manifold
all new exhaust piping and intake piping.

The stock wastegate spring will give you around 5-6 psi

Just tap into the heater lines for coolent

Get oil from one of the oil galleys on the block, so no need for a sandwich adapter. Then just run the oil drain to the passenger side valve cover.

Your in the same boat as I am turboing your 2.2...

Sofar I've gone with 07 wrx top mount ic, 05 wrx td04l, Jna 3in catback, Godspeed 3pm bellmouth downpipe, waiting on legacy turbo headers and uppipe.

Just a heads up it's cheaper to go with oem headers and uppipe and downpipe cause making a custom up pipe and down pipe is like $400 from what I've been finding and quoted around town.

You may want to get a boost gauge to so that u know where your at. Other then that stock 2.2l should handle low boost fine with no other supporting mods.
