Battlefield 3

Been keeping an eye on Battlefield 3. I'm not a fan of the Battlefield franchise but Battlefield 3 looks really well done. The graphics are very impressive. I think graphics are a very important part of these type of video games and most video games for that matter. Many will disagree and say it's all about gameplay but I enjoy games a lot more when they can make you forget about reality and really get into the game. Good graphics certainly help with submersing the player into the game world and Battlefield 3 looks like it's pulling out all the stops graphics wise.

Bad Company 2 was not a great game. I enjoyed the audio in the game because it was top notch. Guns sounded realistic and helped make it feel more real but the controls were terrible and the single player campaign was awful. Online was OK at best. If you like getting sniped a lot or gunned down by choppers. I found out the pistols were 100% accurate from all the way across the map meanwhile my sniper rifle rounds dropped according to distance. It just wasn't as fun as COD games. Plain and simple. Hopefully Battlefield 3 changes that. It looks a lot more serious than BC2 was and it has no relationship whatsoever to the Bad Company games, which is good. The graphics engine has been rebuilt and windows XP will not be able to handle this game. DirectX 10 is a requirement and they've actually focused more on the PC version (finally) than the console versions and it shows in the visuals of the trailers.
I'm excited about BF3 and I can't wait to see more. I'm sure if they tweaked the gameplay from BC2 to be a bit more like COD but with larger maps and more players and the high quality sound they had in BC2 along with this new Frostbite 2 engine it could turn out to be an excelllent FPS. I just hope they make a good campaign this time. The COD ones are short and worthless. I'd like some single player fun for a change. Speaking of which, where the hell is Half Life Episode 3 or HL3 for that matter? What's Valve up to...
