ok from what ive heard from you all the main reason for power loss when adding a cone filter is due to the fact that the ECUs mistakes are just more obvious with the different pipe and all right? so is there a decent engine management system available for the NAs that we could use to correct this?

I wouldn't say there is power loss.....There is a loss in low end torque.....but once you get above 2-3k rpm the thing hauls ass like a banshee.......I do miss that part about my old intake.
When I actually have a garage and some decent tools.....I will fab something up......gimme some time
Also....the hot air from the engine bay doesn't help either.

thas what my heat shields for

thanks for the info.... also would somethin like the pro ecm or torque chip do anything about the low end torque/idle problems that some of us get with the cone filter, or is it not an ECU type issue at all? cuz i for one am not really wantin to give up the high rpm power or the sound

I don't think the pro-ecm or torque chip would help this......it has to do with backpressure in the intake track.......you really can't have both unless you have some sort of controlled valve that opens to let more air in at a certain vacuum. it would be pretty dificult to do this.....so finding a medium point would be the best solution.
