Identify Springs/Clanking KYBs?

All,

Is there a way to identify what springs I have? I am looking to figure out why my 94 SS is clanking like a beat up turd when it goes over bumps and am trying to figure out the suspension step up.

I know it has KYB GR2s struts on all corners (mileage unknown), and the ride is firm but not harsh. I would like to know if I have stock springs so I can figure out if I can handle stiffer.

The car is a DD and I have a 50+ mile commute so I don't want too firm of a ride. She has 221K on the chassis and I am looking to work all the bugs out of her. She corners well and currently has 205/55R16 on WRX rims.

When I go over bumps at low speeds it sounds like my passenger rear strut is blown. It clanks around and sounds like a blown shock. I have seen some posts that ID'ed the issue not to the strut but to the worn out OEM spring. What is the lifespan of GR2s?

Where should I be looking to figure out my issue? Anyway to ID my springs?

check the top nut on the strut, I had a front one come loose once which caused a solid clunk.

Well iv never used the GR2's from kyb. Although i love the AGX's. Sounds to me like a blown strut but it would kind of depend on the tone of the noise and wheather or not you can reproduce it while just pushing on the car. A friend of mine fixed his "clunk" when he realized the bolts and the nuts that hold the bottom of the strut to the knuckle had backed off enough to have some freeplay which caused all sorts of terrible noises. Go over all of the fasteners before you blame the strut.
