Welcome to the BBS.

Have you checked the fluid level in the transmission?

Since the power light is blinking, I'm going to assume there's an electrical issue. You can read the codes from the transmission computer, and that should help identify the problem. The instructions on how to pull the codes are on my site.

Post back with the code info.

Did you run the test for existing & previous codes? Did both show only code 24? Typically a failing duty c solenoid would not keep the car from moving in reverse.

Here's info on my 5spd swap

http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/swap

I also did an AWD conversion, but you can just disregard that section of the swap.

Some differences would be that your 93 is non-turbo setup, and if you go back with a non-turbo trans, the trans is a cable clutch setup instead of hydraulic. The cable setup is actually easier IMO. Also, the 90-94 Legacy MT final drive ratio is going to be 4.111 vs. the 3.90 in your AT. So you'd need to swap out the rear end with a 4.111 rear end, or find a MT from an Impreza that is 3.90.
