I'll do what I can. I plan to get the exhaust done this summer. most of my plans for this rebuild got delayed last year.
once it warms up though... off we go!

Finally got around to ordering the header today. Should be here soon!

If the weather keeps holding, I'll be able to get outside and do the body work I need so that I can actually drive the thing and get it in for exhaust work

That Raptor muffler is the worst POS I have ever used...and I've used plenty. Since it doesn't muffle the sound at all, you'd be better served by a straight pipe. If you want a good, low-priced muffler than you should consider the Dynomax turbo muffler. Its only around $40 to $50 and is WAYYYYY better than the Raptor in sound and flow. Summitt racing has a decent selection of low-priced mufflers.

Where did you get those sweet headers from? I am about to replace my stock setup and those look awesome.

LINK
Probably not the best-of-the-best, but good enough for my purposes.
Unequal length, also not the greatest for making power in comparison to equal length.
I couldn't turn it down, though. The price was right and I need to replace mine.
Keep in mind these are not a stock drop-in. They require customization of the cat.
Stock Non-turbo legacy motors have the cat integrated into the header.
The ones I linked to are for an impreza, which don't have the cat in the header. But they will bolt right up.
I'm planning to do the whole thing custom so I'm not really concerned with that.

here's a good shot of the differences:
EJ25 on the left (the impreza)
EJ22 on the right (our legacy)
if you can find some stock 2.5 headers, they might put more power to the ground than the ones I bought.
And probably for cheaper.
Don't quote me, though.

Just a heads up, you might want to exclude that cat from your exhaust unless absolutely necessary. I put one of those cheap hi-flow cats in my downpipe and after 8K miles it came apart and large chunk of the cat got lodged in my muffler tip heating it up and melting my bumper and probably nearly caused a fire. It had clogged almost completely and was creating a massive restriction in the exhaust which is probably why it finally broke apart.

Kimo,
I think you nailed when you said "cheap hi-flow cats". If you get a good cat, it shouldn't bother things and have good longevity.

Probably but I'm still avoiding them.

I think Legacy777 is just re-iterating your point

I'm not at all disputing your guys' solid input here...
I've had a decent experience with this setup once before. I put about 20,000 miles on my 22re (inline 4, 2.2L) 1995 Toyota Pickup with that same muffler, cat, custom piping and an aftermarket header.
The sound was decent. Price was good. I don't have the truck now, though. It's certainly possible that I just had good luck and that cat is a ticking time bomb.
I appreciate all the input. I've already got all these parts, I think I'm going to cautiously go forward for now, being aware and keep an eye on things.
I'm mostly looking for a decent budget setup to replace my rusted out OEM exhaust.

I have a some 2.5 headers I was gonna use, and I do enjoy the equal length sound, but I really want to see how the unequal length sound, plus can you ever have too many Subaru parts?
