Overkill ? wrapped stock headers and cross pipe

Thinking of pulling off stock headers and cross pipe and painting then wrapping with insulating tape. is this pointless
insulating tape? why not just use header wrap?
I have my uppipe and cross pipe wrapped with header wrap, i did not do the cast parts of the exhaust manifold because i didn't have enough. I only did the thin metal stuff.
