Does anyone know if you can hook up the full header-back off a 2nd gen Legacy and put it on the first gens?

i think you can but it will have to be extended.

Header-back, no, as the second-gens were when they started making the headers and cat as separate pieces. First-gens are all one piece.

However, cat-back will fit perfectly. I had a stock 98 Legacy GT cat-back exhaust on my car for years. I actually still have it and am looking to sell it, if you're interested.

So I couldn't take the 2nd gen headers, cat section, cat-back and swap it over? The only reason I am asking is because I am looking for UEL headers that will bolt up.

If you swap the entire exhaust system you will probably need to shorten it somewhere in the middle as I believe the 2nd gens are longer. Hopefully someone will chime in and confirm that.

The main thing I'd be concerned about is single port vs. dual port. I'm not sure when they started single port, but that's easy enough to verify before you buy something.

Single Ports were in 96 (I have one)

so, thread resurrection time. I have the opportunity to pick up an axle back (muffler) new that would fit a 97 legacy, wagon or sedan for cheap. This would bolt directly on my 94L wagon? thanks
