The cooling fans come on via the ECU through a relay. Which "temp switch" did you replace? Are you talking about the coolant temp sensor in the coolant crossover pipe? If so, which one did you replace, the single wire sensor or the brown plug, two wire sensor?

Do the fans turn on if you press the AC button on the HVAC control panel?

I replaced to 2 wire sensor. It's a 1991 Legacy L. I checked the fuses. I looked in the relay -fuse box under the hood. I didn't see a relay for the fan, only a fuse. The fan for the AC comes on when it's turned on. The primary fan doesn't. I checked with a test light and I don't have any power to the 2 wire sensor. Thanks

Here is the wiring diagram for the main cooling fan.

The cooling fan relay is in the top right of the fuse box near the driver's foot. Here's a diagram.

Will the wiring be the same in a RHD? This is my mail route car. Thanks

It should be, except for the relays, they should be on the opposite, (but still on the driver's side)....if that makes any sense...
