Questions Regarding A Nice Brake Upgrade

OK so i know this topic has been covered by a couple people and Ive searched but I havent found the exact answers Im looking for. I was gonna do Brembos all around with the Fast WRX Kit with the 170mm e-brake drum and adapter brackets in the back. The Set up is rather pricey for my budget I was reading that the 05+ LGT brake set up is pretty good for a budget. My question is do I need some sort of adapter Bracket for the rear Brakes? Im Assuming they are 5X100 rotors. From what ive gathered the front bolt up no prob. Im looking to do New Rotors, Pads, Calipers and Lines all around any feedback / help is much appreciated. Thanks All.

The 05+ LGT brake setup should bolt right up.

Im not gonna need any type of bracket for the rear calipers? So I can order an OEM 05+ LGT front and rear complete brake set up and bolt it on and go? How would this compare to the 4 pot 2 pot 06-07 WRX stuff.

No I don't believe you will need a bracket.

As for comparison, check out my brake math spreadsheet to compare what the different calipers will do to shift brake torque.

Wow Josh thats a sweet Spreadsheet. Thanks Ill be going with the 05+LGT front and rear. Anything else you would recommend Doing Besides... Caliper rotor and pads SS lines. while Im at it? Different master cylinder? Just wanna do a nice braking overhaul. make sure Im solid for the winter. You da man Josh...

The SS already has the 1-1/16" bore MC, so there's really not anything you can do there. The only other thing that would improve brake feel is the single diaphragm brake booster. It reduces brake assist and provides a more linear feel to the brake pedal when compared to the tandem booster setup.

I'd probably suggest sticking with what you're planning to do unless you really don't like the way the pedal feels right now.

Cool. So just to be safe before I order this stuff... Im Gonna get The 05+ LGT front and rear calipers, some DBA 4000 series Slotted Rotors front and rear and some EBC Brake pads, Stoptech SS lines. My stock Rear Caliper Mounting Bracket is gonna work with the New LGT Caliper?and be in the correct location for the larger discs?

Still wondering if anyone had tried both these brake options and if they could tell me what one would be the better buy. My Brakes are SHOT right now so either set up is going to be worlds better from my perspective...

In my opinion 4 pots are pretty but lgt brakes stop a little better

In looking at the math, not sure everything is right. Curious how a 2 piston caliper with the same size pistons rates better than a 4 piston caliper?

Also are you taking into account solid VS vented rotors?
Brakes stop by converting movement into friction heat, and thermodynamically, vented rotors can handle more heat than solid rotors.

Thoughts?

lgt has larger front rotors 315mm vs 294mm for the 4 pots both are vented
the rear rotors are the same size and both are vented
the lgt brakes bolt right up if you get the calipers and brackets and are pretty cheap used
4/2 pot do look way nicer and will fit under some 16" rims, the lgt fronts need at least a 17"

according to the spread sheet the lgt fronts are a 14.85% increase in brake torque over the 4 pots and the rears are equal

Dang thats quite and increase considering the 4 Pots are more expensive. I didnt get a chance to look at that spreadsheet much cause I could only preview it on my computer.

You don't want too much of a front increase in bias. Balance is good.

I was thinking about that. Are cars are probably WAY lighter than the new LGT. White AND Winestone... lucky man.

I'll throw my two cents in.....The overall brake torque increase from SS brake setup to the LGT brake setup is only 4% increase forward, which isn't much, but these cars are a little front heavy as is. You could run some slightly more agressive pads in the rear to help bring the balance back a little bit if you feel the need.

Yeah I feel like the 4pot 2 pot will bring some nice balance to the car I should be getting them in the mail today! Pics of the install will be up as soon as I get underway. I've got some nasty old brake pictures coming for you guys.

Ok so I ran into Some stuff that Im not too sure of. I want to replace this bad wheel stud but im not gonna be able to get it out without removing the ABS Ring. My ABS has never worked so I don't really need the ring or do I??? Next it looks like the only way to remove this is to take off the hub... Any advice?
