Would you have to remove the engine to install cams?

From what I understand the cam on the passenger side comes out the rear and there isn't enought room for it to do so. So I guess I am saying yes. Maybe someone knows a trick that will chime in.

The passenger side cam is shorter, and might come out. I haven't tried it, maybe someone that has or hasn't done it can comment.

No need to remove the engine, the passenger side cam slides right out no problems. The drivers side comes out with a little finess, it bumps into the ac condenser, but it's manageable to get it out without removing the condenser.

This was done on a na ej22

Its possible, but its so much easier to do it with the engine out. And its relatively easy to pull a motor out of a subie.
