Transmission problems..

So heres the story..

I bought a 93' legacy wagon L from my work for $250 that kept pulling axles. I assessed the damage and realized the front diff. housing was busted. So I bought another trannsmission from a guy on here a few weeks back. Went to install and didn't pull the torque converter, tried to stab and suck up the tranny and realized it wouldn't sit flush with the engine. Pulled the tranny back out and noticed we broke the bigger input shaft and the smaller one was stuck inside the torque converter. We then took the front diff off of this newer tranny and put it onto the old tranny so we would have a good input shaft and front diff.

Still needed a torque converter at this point so I found a great deal on a 92' legacy wagon with a newer transmission in it and an extra torque converter. Realized the guy did the same thing we did when installing his tranny and began pulling it apart. We couldn't get the torque converter to seat in that tranny with both of them pulled. We began messing around with the spare torque converter that he gave us and the old pieced together tranny, and the TC went in perfectly after a few seconds of playing. So we installed that tranny into this 92' and got it all put back together..

Now heres the problem. We brought it off the lift and.. No reverse. It works slightly at low rpms, but you can floor it and go nowhere. Also in Drive it seems to be lacking power and idle serging every so often. We tried messing with the linkage and got nothing.

Also I started it yesterday and it ran like shit and wouldn't stay running, then it wouldn't start back up, so I jump started it and it ran fine.

Really tired of pulling these heavy ass transmissions!

Notes: TC won't seat in one transmission, No reverse in this transmission, Car lacking power.

Either your transmission is bad or you need more fluid. Like way more fluid.

Checked the fluid a few times, both front diff and trans and they were both full.

You sure you got the torque converter seated properly?

This thread has info on how to check the fluid level. Are you checking the trans fluid similar to these procedures?

It looked as if the TC was seated properly. It was flush and closed up perfectly. I can't remember, but I beleive we cycled the gears and I know we checked it while running. I think I shall check it again. At first start it kinda has reverse, but after that its a no go.
