I have a 93 turb wagon..its a auto with a 3.90ratio. my front diff makes a scuffing rattle when i accel. firmly. told it was bad. will a regular legacy one fit ,and is the ratio the same?...looking for answers....turbo roman..

I'm pretty sure the 92-94 awd automatics in the gen 1 legacys are all 3.90s, the fwd autos are 3.73, non turbo MTs are 4.11 and all turbos are 3.90.

The 92-94 non-turbo Legacy automatics also had a 3.90 final drive ratio, so you could get one of those transmissions to swap into your turbo legacy. One thing that might cause you issues is the TCU. I've heard of issues between the non-turbo & turbo TCU. However, I'd probably just do the trans swap and if you have issues, swap over a non-turbo TCU.

thanks for the info ...mine does have a tcu problem which would be no problem to fix but the front diff is rattling ..I might just keep the center section cuz it shifts really firm ..apparently someone has been into it I'm thinking maybe this center has been rebuilt ..I will start shopping today for a front diff..

I have a front diff from a 5mt that i'd sell... it's turbo legacy 3.90
