I would buy one if someone in the states or canada was making them.

How much is the mold?

he was selling it for 450 a while ago but now its up for best offer.
highest posted so far is 150
even if some one paid 2-400 it would be a good deal since the cost of the mold would be covered quickly from selling lips

I would buy it but I don't think I could make them. Is it for fiberglass or eurethane? Or does it matter?

That's what I was thinking. I don't want a fiberglass lip though. That thing would not last on my car. Every time I jack up the back end my lip is smashed on the ground.
I've worked with fiberglass several times but I would only buy it if I was able to make flexible parts with it.

So, what are the odds we can all pitch in to get the mold and then have Northwind Composites (Lee right?) start making them and selling them at "cost" (i guess materials and labor) to people who helped chip in? That might be convoluted, but at least feasible right? Of the regulars here, there's pretty much no one I don't trust to be honest with money or an item.

Just contact northwest composites. I'm sure he would buy it if he knew about it. I'd buy one. I don't want to pay for part of the mold and for the part as well and I don't know if he'd sell them at cost.

Kimo sent me a PM and told me that the BBS may have an option for a good front lip and my name had come up - thank you.
I can't get to the link because I'm not registered. However, it sounds like this may be something worth discussing with the owner of the mold. Would it be possible for someone who has access to the current owner to send my contact information to him so I can start a dialoge?
Hearing the different thoughts of what you guys would like I think I could accomodate most of the requests. If the mold is a solid strong mold in decent condition and made of the right materials I would not have a problem buying it and then making parts for the BBS.
Without having any information on the mold itself or the materials it's made from I cannot say right now whether or not I'd be limited to just composite lips or if I could vacuum form a plastic, or if I'd even be willing to buy it. Vacuum forming really is not what I'm wanting to get into but I might be able to make an exception for the BBS - it'd look good on my car too and I've been known to kill a cone or two at Auto-X

....
So if someone could kindly pass word along to the seller that there is a composite shop that wants to discuss potentially buying the mold that would be great. They can contact me at
Lee@NorthwindComp.com or call at 208-290-5585.
And off course if someone here wants to just get excited and buy it themselves I'm always happy to share some of my knowledge.

This is awesome! Those lips look great.
I hope it works out that someone on this BBS get's it.
Also, depending on the per unit cost, I'd be down for a lip or 2.

Thanks for your enquiry about my mould. I think freight charges to the States would be prohibitive and at this stage I have a buyer in Oz. I will let you know if this falls through.
Regards,
Quicky.
thats the pm i got from him, i told him we are willing to pay for shipping and i asked how much the buyer in oz is going to pay for it

Well, maybe you can find out who the buyer is, and maybe we can set up a group buy when they start producing some.

He has offered me $350.00 and the money was meant to be transferred last week but nothing has shown up yet. I was dropping it off at a freight depot on Wednesday so he has very little time or the deal is off. I will keep you up to date with what is happening.
Thanks,
Steven.
thats the latest pm i got from him

I'll buy one if it's ~$100 or less and not fiberglass. I scrape too much, would not last. Same stuff as those $60 STi Limited lips on ebay would be perfect
