Volkswagen 5x100 wheels have a 57.1mm center bore. Our cars have a 56.1mm center bore. I don't think you can get a centering ring that's only half a millimeter thick, so if you use VW wheels you'll have to go without hub-centering, and use lug-centering instead. I wouldn't do it myself, but one can get away with lug-centering if one carefully installs the wheel, torquing the lug nuts evenly and gradually with the wheels off the ground.

As for the offset -- VW offsets vary between +35mm and +40mm. Our stock wheel offset is +55mm if I remember correctly. Lower-offset wheels may cause the tires to rub the fenders (especially if the tires are wide) and put greater load on the wheel bearings. If you're willing to replace your wheel bearings more often, you might be able to roll the fenders to get more clearance if they rub.

those arent factory vw wheels btw. they are borbet type-t. nice find, they arent a very common borbet wheel.

you need to get all matching size tires so you dont screw up center diff. looks like they need new tires anyways. you are very lucky to get those wheels though, im jealous.

No that's not too big. I'm using 225/45/17 and I've seen people use wider tires as well.

The other tire is a 225. And it look like a truck tire compared to my 185 on it now. Lol. Did the 225 rob power? Or is yours big power

one of the good things about working with a service department. so i got the 225 tires off and notice the inside of the wheel has a small flat spot like he hit a curb . hopfully the will balance. im in search for some tires now. Image

If you want hub rings any machine shop should be able to make them really easily.

Thats what I'm goin to do. My friends dad works at a machine shop. Vrg3 said a half mm. It won't cost me anything, it's worth a try. It has tapered lugnuts so I'm goin to mount them and do some measurements.

If you have access to a machine shop, you might ask them to actually mill out the bore on the wheels to a larger size so you could use more substantial centering rings.

Ya. That would be better than having such a thin ring. I'll look into it.

Good point, wasn't really thinking about how thin .5mm is, probably a good idea.
