i currently have a diamond top mount on my t-leg. i got a front mount when i bought the car was wondering if i should spent the time puttng the front mount on before i do my ej 257 swap this summer or next. what exactly would be the difference in the two if there is much of one?

Diamond intercooler? Never heard of em. A lot more goes into that decision than top mount or mount. Things such as how efficient of an intercooler do you have for each, how much airflow you have through each setup, length of pipe will effect throttle response and pressure drop as will the core itself. The best system of all is no intercooler if you have the means to cool the charge air enough but for a street car this is not practical since it's not reliable like an intercooler is.

It's just not that cut and dry.

I'd probably suggest waiting until you do your ej257 swap. That way you only have to do the piping once. Even if you fit the piping up with the current setup, you're bound to have at least several small tweaks when you do the swap.

yea, i toyed with the idea of a front mount, but until i get a bigger turbo and push way more boost i dont think its worth it. but seeing as how im only gonna run a td04 and around 10-12 psi, i didnt think the boost lag would be worth the cool factor.
