I can't say for sure, but you may run into issues running the EJ257 short block and EJ22 heads. I'm not sure if all the ports for cooling, oil, etc are going to line up properly.
What is your overall goal with this engine? Personally, if you're wanting big power, I would not trust the PP6 to run the ECU. I know Douglas Vincent has done it, but he was running on the ragged edge.
As you get time, fill us in on the rest of the details and your goals.

That really depends on what heads you run and how involved you want to get with the wiring.
If I do my motor again I'm just going to swap in a complete ej257 and wire it to my Link. For your case, wire it to run off the stock STi ECU. There may be a few things you'd have to turn off in the ECU since it'll want a few additional sensors....but that would certainly get you good reliable power. It however would likely not be the cheapest nor the easiest to sort out all the issues.

To clarify - is your '91 a turbo or NA car now? I'm not familiar w/the 'SPT' other than
Subaru Performance Tuning.
Easiest option, IMHO: Get the EJ25D DOHC heads and intake manifold, Sti 535cc yellow injectors and EJ20G ECU upgrade w/the Rob tune. You'll be @ 275+ hp/torque @ the wheels - double the stock levels.
If you car is NA you'll need to add wiring for the turbo's sensors and swap the cam/crank sensor wiring @ the ECU and add the EJ20G 4-to-2 ignition converter.; if it's already turbo'd you'll just need to add the converter.
Read up on here, as it's been done before, and there are some things to watch out for, e.g. you'll need to source the coolant/oil for the turbo as the NA heads don't have 'em built-in.
The biggest caveat is you'll be limited to Rob's tunes w/the EJ20G and I'm not sure he supports any bigger injectors or turbos.
GL,
Td

That's my old car! The good old Radio Flyer.
The SPt decal is just a decal someone put on before I got it.
Kelly had a high-hp motor running on the PP6 in the past in that car, but I don't know how reliable it was.
Your build sounds fun.

I don't know why Kelly got rid of it, there were like 4 or 5 owners between me and him.
I bought it from Lee who bought it to swap the built motor into his own car. He put a stock EJ22T in it and sold it to me. Lee bought it from Matthew and it was RWD when he had it. He sold it because the center diff was messed up, but Lee replaced it before he sold it to me. Matthew bought it from some guy who wasn't even on the BBS as far as I know. Throw in a couple more owners and then you get back to Kelly.

If i just do a complete swap to ej257 does the year of the motor matter. i believe 02-07 differ from the 08+?
Or should i just build up my 22t motor and hope rob gets a tune down for the 22t's.

How short on funds are you? This will not be cheap in any way. I have an EJ257 sitting in a rubbermaid tube in my garage with a new EJ257 crank, almost new rods and ACL race bearings but money is certainly holding me back and I've already got the EJ20G heads I'll likely be using on it. I don't know how I'm going to run it, engine management wise and I'm not sure if those heads need the combustion chambers machined to match the bore of the block to avoid detonation issues or not. I remember reading something about that on NASIOC with the WRX heads on the 257 block and I assume it's the same for the EJ20G heads but you'll probably be fine with EJ25D heads since they're made for a larger bore already. However you'll then have to deal with cams and that's not cheap.
Don't mess around with 08+ they have major ringland issues but then again the 04-07 had them as well but I've read on NASIOC that 08+ were really bad which is why I'm not going to run the stock pistons and rings.

now much power does my stock ecu able to handle? Sounds like i should just go with upgrades on my 22t block for now.

Not much. Its tuned for your stock injectors which are tiny. I think 370cc? Something like that. Can't really get around that without upgrading injectors and using a rising rate fuel pressure regulator which is a bit sketchy imo or engine management.

They usually don't pick the spot til summer. But yeah always august towards the end like last week of august. Its been in washington at least the last 3 years I don't know if they do it in other states but I'm sure I'd still go to oregon if it was there. California though....I dunno.
