Is this pretty much the same thing as for a 90-94? WRX springs and top hats and done?

depends on the year of wrx springs. 02-03 should go right on but I don't know what will happen to ride height.

Hey Thanks Jamal.

I was all ready to order another set of top hats.

Uh-oh, looks like I will indeed need some top hats and rubbers. 02-03 WRX springs were too small for the top fronts. Haven't tried the rears yet. I'll probably end up putting these on my 91 anyway.

You sure you have the right springs in the front?
From what I understand, the fronts are all the same diameter. Its the rears that vary from year to year. But they're all fit-able with the right top hats.

That's what I was thinking too. I know this car was completely rebuilt using an Outback. But they couldn't use Outback struts on a Legacy without raising it up, so who know's what they used??

You know, my car sits kinda low like maybe 3/4" or so. Even with the 17s on it, it looks like its lowered a little.. Maybe it has 90/91 struts. I wonder if the rears are tapered? I'll check in the am.

Def not tapered springs in back. The struts are Subaru OEM, but I can't read the entire part #. This setup appears to be the same as when I did my 92. In this 96, the core support on this car was replaced, everything IN FRONT of the strut towers. So maybe they are original.

yeah I think the top of the front springs differs a bit year to year and you need the upper perch that goes with them. The top mount that bolts into the chassis is the same though you just need the metal perches which are pretty cheap I think (~$15 new?)
All the tapered rears are pretty much the same as are the straight ones as far as diameter goes. But like I said I have no idea what's going to happen to ride height if you put wrx springs on legacy struts.

I have a 91 Wagon that I will be putting these 02-03 WRX springs on.
QUESTION:
Can I put 96 struts on my 91? I'll be using the WRX springs and top hats. I don't see what the difference is, other than the bottom spring perch welded a little higher. But arent' the newer 91 struts done the same anyway now as later years ones?

You can use the '96 struts on your '91. You will need to use your '91 rear tophats as the mounting bolt pattern is different between your '91 and the '95-on tophats.

also, to use the 91 tops you need 04-07 springs. if you use 92-94 tops the 02-03 springs fit.
but like I said you might end up with really odd ride heights.

Thanks, I couldn't remember which fit with which.
You can always count on Jamal for good suspension info.
