It's official, they are postponing the race due to the massive fires in the area.

The Race to the Clouds:
So this year I'm going to attend the Pikes Peak Hillclimb outside Colorado Springs, CO with a board member and his friends.
July 6th-8th, with the race itself being held on the 8th.
Tickets are $40 online or $50 the day of the race.
Here's the current record holder, Monster Tajima's winningest run:

Before Tajima, Rod Millen held the record for fastest climb at 10:04 (in an Awd Celica!) that held from 1994 to 2007 when Tajima raced his first Monster Suzuki. Here's his son, Rhys Millen in his turbo Hyundai Genesis. The last section he drove with a popped tire due to badassery on the paved section. This is the fastest RWD car to date I believe.

Michèle Mouton showing the advantages of AWD (in her Audi Quattro S1) on the mountain

And of course former rally driver Ari Vatanen's Climb Dance in his (Jeremy Clarkson accent:) "perrjo"
No dialog, just racing at 110%

I believe this year will be the first time the course will be fully paved - due to some environmentalists being worried about the track dusting farming land below the mountain? Either way I bought an older DSLR and between now and then I'll learn how to use it, lol.
Anyone else going?
