Widest Tires I can use on Legacy GT Snowflakes

I just traded some ADR 17"s I had for a set of Legacy GT snowflakes which are my favorite OEM Subaru wheel by far and I've wanted a set for awhile now but when you find nice ones, they are usually expensive. The ones I have are in great shape. I'm going to have them sandblasted and powder coated black. Then I need some new tires and I'm wondering what is the widest tire I could use with out it looking bulgey. For those who don't know, they are 16"x 6.5". I was thinking either 215/50-16 or 225/50-16. Anyone tried that wide of a tire on 16"s?

I run 205/55-16 stock size on my 16x6.5 rims and I wouldn't want to have any more bulge than that. I would -maybe- run 215/50-16 but I think 225 is too wide. I did a quick search but can't find any good pics. Here's my contribution:

yeah I would keep it to 205 or maybe 215. going wider doesn't get you any benefit and can be detrimental to handling because the tire can flex so much. Ideally we keep the tread slightly narrower than the rim. I have 225s on 7" wheels and would rather have a 7.5 or even 8" rim for that.

Alright, thanks guys. I figured 225s would be too wide. I'll probably go with the 205s as they are readily available at my work for low prices.
