Ok maybe it's just me because I've been out of the loop for a while, but have tire prices jumped up quite a bit? I just went looking for some 205/55/16s for my 240sx and I can't get a decent set of tires for under $350-400 shipped on the internet.

Yeah, I can't remember the last set of sub-$100-per-tire tires that I bought.

eh? I used to buy 215/45/16 Falken RT-615s for ~105 each w/ free shipping back when I have my subaru.
Oh well..

Only tires I've ever bought for less than $100 a piece were 14s and 15s. First 16s I bought was 6 years ago and they were $109, cheapest not-garbage tire I could get.

They have jumped a shit load in the last ~6 years. My last set of NEW tires about 6 years ago were $100 per tire, the same tire right now is over $150. Needless to say I just ordered a set of 4 225/45/17 Dunlop Star Specs and it was $758 after tax/install/etc. If I had gone the tire size I had really wanted it would have been nearly $100 more.

^^ and now I get a call that they are on a national back order and I might have to wait a few months to get them. Awesome.

haha so I can buy 3 tires @ 50% wear and one at 15% wear? gotta love those deals.

That is really weird, I always buy tires from discounttiredirect.com. Free shipping (which increases the tire price a little), but America's Tire will service 'em for free if you need a valve stem replaced or something.

right but the free shipping reduces the overall cost for sure compared to tirerack.com

i normally pay a little extra locally and get the free mounting/balancing and it works out better in the end, instead of online buying.

i miss being in Georgia where i had a sweet hookup with a local tire place that always gave me a discount because they sponsored my employer at the time.
