and it's rather big...
From the HIN (Hull Identification Number) it's a 1974 from Pete's Plastic Boat Works in Blue Hill Maine!!!!
it needs fiberglass work and all the wood redone. but its gonna be one fun project!

Nice! What does it have for wood work?
I just got this Chesapeake 17 in November and I'm refinishing it and making some Aleutian and Greenland style paddles for it:

Even better so you can do it your own way. That's a real nice project and you can't argue with free! What's the length of it?

Yea it's going to be a great project. and Tell ya the truth I have NO IDEA the length.... we just took it off the car and stuffed it into the upstairs of the barn. I'll take a measurement tomorrow and get back to ya on that.
and thanks Subielover! I think it looks fantastic as well!

A great thing about these cars is tie downs—how many do you want? The damn 2012 Focus has none. The Mazda 3 had a port in the bumper you popped off and screwed in a tow hook that made a very nice tie down, even keeping the lines off the body. Don't know why Ford didn't use the same thing when it's the same platform. The long, flat roof of the Legacy wagons are great, too. Toss it on top, tie it, and go.

Wow, it looks a lot longer than my Chesapeake, but it's really only a foot.

Yeah almost as tall as the building. That Chesapeake sure is nice. I like old canoes and kayaks.

It's actually a kit that's only about 5 years old. It's one I was thinking of building when I found this one for less than the price of the kit without the rudder. I would've done flush deck hatches, but it's otherwise what I would have done. Also weighs about 10 lbs. less than my plastic 13' Walden Odyssey.
