"Coilover" conversion for stock strut/spring (height adjust)

I remember reading this a few years back but cannot figure out which forum it was on. It was a list of parts that you could use with the stock struts and tophats to get height adjustability.
There was a sleeve that clamped around the strut tube and a set of "universal" springs with different rates but at the proper length.

It may have been intended for first generation Imprezas and not specifically the Legacy.

Not exactly. What I had seen was that you keep everything original and just replace the spring. The strut is not changed other than a threaded sleave slid over the top.

It was like this http://www.ground-control-store.com/pro ... I=85/CA=25 but less espensive.

Basically the same thing all the honda kids do when they get tired of cutting their stock springs.

I plan to keep the stock ride height or even raise the car. This would be a cheap way to corner balance it.

Ground control is about the least expensive 'kit' around. Circle track vendors, like Day Motorsports, carry universal stuff thats a bit less expensive but it's up to you to figure out front strut tops and spring lengths/dia./rates.

I think you can find them on ebay. although the spring rates you actually end up with are a mystery. They probably only do 8" springs where you want a 10" spring until you get into 400+ lb/in rates.
