I recently bought a 91 ss that had blew a connecting rod in three pieces. So assuming the block was no good I bought another block and did a complete rebuild. Yesterday I drove it for the first time for 3 miles. The first two miles the transmission would randomly slip and rev out. By the third mile it would not grab any gear at all. All the fluids look good. Whem I mated the motor to tranny I had the torque converter on the motor. So I think it might be that I did not seat the torque converter? But it drove out of the garage? How do I find out if this is what it is? Could this have damaged anything? Or can I pull it apart a seat the t/c correctly?

Also I have a check engine light. when I plugged the connecters together it flashes 7 times over and over again. But ther is no code 7. anyone know what this could be?

Yeah I would recommend try reseating the torque converter in the transmission and then bolting the motor up. You have to tighten the bolts through the access hole on the bell housing. It sucks, but that's the only way to do it.

It is possilbe the pump was damaged when you put the torque converter in. If the torque converter is not seated all the way, it can break the oil pump.

Which color connectors did you have hooked up, black or green? Hook up the black connectors for stored codes.
