Mystery SUV Driving me Nuts

I usually know or can get close to guessing any car I see, but I've had one recently that leaves me a complete blank and even google is no help. I've seen it twice driving around Salem, MA and neither time was I able to get a real ID of the nameplate. It happened to be black, looks fairly new, kind of like a bloated big Honda SUV—perhaps something like an enlarged Element with body color bumpers, but a kind of half-assed not-quite-right copy like something you'd expect from China or Russia. Best I could get of what I think was the nameplate is that it has 3 characters beginning with an N and the letters kind of crammed together "stylistically". Something like "NDV" or "NPD" or whatever. I was on the 3rd date with a new girl that I like so I wasn't quite ready to run after the thing to get a better look. I kind of wish I had anyway and I'm pretty sure she'd have been OK with it. It's ugly and unappealing beyond being an SUV, but not knowing what the hell brand it is really bugs me.

Anyone have any ideas?

I've identified weird stuff like Goggomobiles abandoned to rot in fields while driving by at near highway speeds, but this is nothing I've ever seen. A friend of mine in NYC thinks he saw the same thing and had no clue what it was either and he lost it in traffic, but he thought the 3-letter name had a "Z" in it. Picture a monochromatic Honda Element as a full size SUV and maybe with some awkward rolls of fat around the sides and the rear to go with the weight gain from the bump in size.

I keep wanting to say Acura ZDX, but it looks nothing like you're describing.

No, it is not a regular brand. It has 3 letters in the name and isn't BMW. I can't find anything like it with all kind of Google searches, so I'm thinking it might be one of those bullshit "manufacturers" that just rebody someone else's vehicle.

I think I know what you are talking about. It's a Ford designed for disabled drivers. I guess it's the only car for disabled drivers that's not a modified conversion of another car. Saw it at the car show here in Denver a few weeks ago. I can't remember the 3 letter name either.

Is it this? ==> http://www.vpgautos.com/

Here in CT, a Taxi company bought like 100 taxi versions of these. They are a weird looking mobile, that is for sure.

They all very cool for their designed purpose. Checked it all out at the Denver car show. Crazy big inside with attachment rails all over the floor and walls.

Forever ago. I noticed that some of the pictures he was hosting on his domain seem to not be working any more as well. About 6 months ago a couple of us had this conversation, and then Steve made a couple more posts and disappeared again. I'm kinda worried about him. I mean, i don't really know him at all, but he was a pretty frequent poster. It seems like most people who lose interest don't suddenly stop posting all together.

I've heard from Steve within the last week or so on FB. So he's still around, I just don't think he's spending much time on the BBS.

Oh good. If you hear from him again Josh, let him know that we all miss him. And that, if he comes back we'll all consider buying his book.
