93 Legacy stereo install wiring help please

after an hour or so of splicing and connecting the factory harness to my aftermarket alpine cda 9884, ive hit a road block. 99.9% of the wires are all hooked up except for 1 which i think may be the culprit.

the stereo is not turning on or lighting up or doing anything when i turn the key and the only factory wire not connected to any part of my aftermarket deck is the Illumination (negative). now, the wire harness i purchased from the audio store had every wire coming through it except one for the illumination (negative). is the harness i purchased missing this or does this wire just not need to go anywhere? any help would be greatly appreciated, dying without tunes :(

Searching usually can help you out in most cases but maybe this will help.

went back through my work, made sure all the wires were connected to the correct counter wires, i even switched the access and battery around along with the two illumination wires just to make sure the diagrams i saw were wrong or i mixed them up but still NOTHING. all my fuses are ok

i dont know what else to do and have NEVER had this much trouble or frustration installing a stereo

my 9pin harness is all connected with 8 wires (2 for each speaker) and my 7pin harness is all connected except for that one yellow/blue wire :/

does the accessory wire on the 9pin have to be connected to anything cuz the harness i bought didnt have a wire for it to connect, just two for each speaker. so that leaves total----> two wires not connected that are part of the factory harness. the accessory(red/black) on the 9pin and the illumination(dont know if its + or - but its yellow/blue) on the 7pin

sorry if im not making myself clear, again though if anyone can shed some light id appreciate it alot

If it won't turn on, start with the yellow, red and black. The ignition, battery and ground wires have to be good for the stereo to work. I would use a multi meter to test each of these. Start at the end of the factory harness. If it is good there, then check the end of the stereo harness before you plug it in. Skip the speaker wires for now. You should find your answer.

if its missing the acc wiring its not going to turn on
you can join the acc with the battery + just to test it out
if you can find a terminal that fits add the missing wire then connect it properly

Thnx for the help! I have the acc on the 7pin layout hooked up, just not on the 9pin where all the speaker wires are harnessed. I'm gonna go grab my multi meter and double check the harnesses.

Just went thru this w/my step-son and he had two blown fuses - the memory and accessory- even though the stock radio/CD worked before the upgrade.

Something touched that shouldn't have.

I checked my radio and illumination fuses and they were good.... BUT my dome light and map lights are out from a fuse that could be affecting the radio too, don't know which fuse it is though, anyone know?

Thnx diesel, looks like all it was the clock room fuse after all! Everything works now and was wired correctly.

good to hear that you got it fixed. Always seem to be the easiest things which is always the last to be checked.
