For 1993 legacy, 2.2 or 2.0?

Ebay has engine rebuild kits. I personally like the Subaru gasket kits as they have all the little parts needed for an engine rebuild.

Thank you for the info, just ordered one off ebay for $54 and change, O reillys wanted $189 or so for just a head set, I can imagine what the dealer price would be. Need to hunt down the timing belt stuff now.

Rockauto also works well for several of the bits and pieces for the EJ22/EJ22T. $54 for a gasket set is pretty cheap though! Every now and again you can find EXTREMELY attractive close out deals on Rock Auto

I also like the dealer. Most sets are about $200 for EVERY gasket on the motor, including the O-rings for splitting the block. Your also assured of getting all the latest revisions and upgrades (for example most EJ25D aftermarket sets will have composite headgaskets, while OEM is now MLS).

$54. was so much better than 200.

I have bought cheap gasket-kits from Ebay.

Headgasket failure and leaking valvecovers was the result.

I wouldn't use the cheap head gaskets either. But the other parts like o rings etc are fine. It beats $5 and $6 o rings from the dealer. And besides with all the sub contracting to places like China that most all auto companys do now, even those top dollar Subaru dealer parts may come from the same place the cheapy ebay gaskets come from, with the only difference being the name on the package. I have seen it many times before, and of course you get to pay more for it from the dealer.

One of the things I have seen about the chinese parts is that they are not built with the same quality. Most of the time the parts are either reverse engineered and then new parts are built. When this is done, you don't usually get the same tolerances on the part, since the re-engineered part doesn't have all the exact dimensional info.

Also, I've found that sometimes they just fuck up...and bad. A chinese built radiator I bought had one of the plastic studs for the fan to bolt too off by 1/2"!! That's ridiculous.

I so fully agree with you I can't stand the china junk parts. But like I said some of the top manufactures are going to china to make the parts thinking they are getting a great deal. In the end its you and I that suffer, well sometimes the big company that subs there does too with the law suits etc. These were not china gaskets. And so far are just great. Engine has been running for many weeks now no leaks or problems.

Haven't read the CV deal yet, but a few years ago got CV's at napa brand new they say, yeah china.
One clunked and clunked, took it back and paid more at the Subaru dealer, so we have one good china one and one good reman subaru dealer one. Both been going good for some years now.
