So finally bought a set of 12" 1700 CFM a piece cooling fans for my tleg since I've only had the smaller fan in my car for almost 2 years now. I need to know which wire is the hot wire on the 3 pin plug, the fans only have 2 wires running to them, hot and ground. Also, in the stock setup, do both of the fans come on at the same time or is there one that comes on and one that doesn't unless the A/C or defrost is on? if so I want to wire it up so that they both come on at the same time.

Thanks for the help.

I believe they both come on when the temp reaches a certain temp and like you said, if you're using A/C then the small one comes on. You can connect the 2 green plugs under the dash and they should come on I believe.

I think at a specific temp, the small one comes on. But if you use the AC or it reaches above a set point, then both turn on.
Curious why you are changing out the fans?

Cars equipped with AC have the AC sub connector connected, which causes both fans to come on at the same time.

This diagram should help.

The yellow wire with red stripe should be the hot wire that you want to use. The black wire is ground.
