So engine is an ej22t shortblock with almost 300,000miles on the pistons and bores with new rings and std sized bearings. Heads are Ej25d. Only 40 miles or so since the block was split this started.

Engine is at operating temp during video, noise is there when cold, but alot quieter. the knocking is consistent, no squieking and happens between say 1500rpm and 3000rpm unlike a rod knock,

could this be main bearings?

or alot of piston slap given the mileage?

What else?

I cut open the oil filter, there was some debris in there, may bave been from it being apart, I changed the oil and will run it around the block again and cut open the other filter.

Are you talking about the gurgling sound when you throttle it? Goosing it a few times okay, but the whole video is just constant goosing it, leave it steady state for a minute or so. Sounds like some timing component noises or accessorie bearings.

It's kind of hard to hear in the video. How did you break in the new rings? Did you hone the cylinders at all?

Have you checked compression?

Do the EJ25D heads use solid or hydraulic lifters?

I honed the cylinders with a drill unit. It has the later solid liters I believe.

Heard from a few reputable aquaintances that its most likely severe slap from loose pistons, gunna have to tear it down anyways, I ll check for damage and order some forged units assuming I haven't hurt it allready.
