Airbag issues

Need help. I can't find any information anywhere on this, even from the dealers. This is for a 96 Legacy(NOT OUTBACK). The 95 and 96 legacies are different from all others. I bought my car with the airbag light on and the PO told me it was hit in the front, which I could guess by the Outback frontend on it :D . So I went to the junkyard and bought two airbags and a control module from a 96 legacy with all the same #s. Installed properly and disconnected the battery overnight. Light is still on. I thought maybe that the airbag sensors would need to be replaced. But now to the problem...does it even have any? On the Outbacks, they are bolted to the frame inside the front of the fenderwell. On the legacies, the mount holes are there, but no sensors. I pulled the front seats and carpet and the Outback has an extra wire running under it to go to the sensor location. On my legacy, no wire and the opening is plugged where the wire would pass through the fenderwell.

Is it possible that the sensor is integrated into the module?? There sure doesn't seem to be any other wires they could connect to. Also, does the clockspring need to be replaced??

Again, this applies only to the 95 and 96 Legacy. 97-99 Legacy and 95-99 Outback are different from the 95-96 legacy. Thanks for any input.

In most cases in a front end collision the sensors need to be replaced along with the clock spring and air bags.
As for the tracing the wires, shouldn't be to hard they are all yellow.

I'm not sure why, but the 'south' end of the clock spring cable wasn't connected. I didn't disconnect it and I don't know why anyone would. But what I do know is that the light is GONE.

What a relief :-)
